Hi! I am Mark Resnicoff, Suite101’s new Feature Writer for Eastern European/Russian Affairs. If you are looking for up-to-date information about happenings in Eastern Europe and Russia, you are in the right place. So many things are always happening in this dynamic area of the world that, at times, it seems difficult to keep up with all the latest news and events. Our experts cover a vast geographic area including the countries of Belarus, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Ukraine, and Russia. We cover a diverse range of subject matter including politics, environmental issues, social issues, trade, industry, agriculture, profiles of key figures in the area and anything else we can think of.

Some of you already know me from my travels to Chernobyl in June 2006. I am still heavily involved in all things Chernobyl, but that will not be my focus here. Yes, I may write about Chernobyl whenever something newsworthy develops, but I really want this section of Suite101 to cover all aspects of newsworthy events equally throughout the whole of Eastern Europe and Russia. Speaking of which, keep your eyes open for a series of articles covering Ukraine’s upcoming parliamentary elections in September.
